Lambda Phi Epsilon is a service orientated fraternity, dedicated to serving the Asian American community both at the local and national levels. Our national philanthropy is the National Bone Marrow Program. With the help of the Cammy Lee Leukemia Foundation, the program seeks to increase the number of registered marrow donors in the Asian American communities. This is crucial since an Asian Leukemia patient has next to no chance of finding a match from anyone outside of an Asian heritage.

In the spring of 2008, we had raised a very successful Bone-marrow drive. Over 60 people registered at the Boston University George Sherman Union to become a possible bone marrow donor. This event definitely helped boost the awareness throughout the community of this looming problem. Bone marrow transplant offices nationwide have been receiving fewer and fewer registered donors every year, and that is why we believe every possible effort will contribute to help the cause.

For one week in Fall 2007, we raised over four hundred dollars for the Toys-for-Tots program of Boston. During another week we collected three large boxes of canned-goods for the Boston Food Bank. We?ve personally witnessed many people who had returned numerous times to our booth to donate again. Our Thanksgiving drives are annual, and hope to see you again this year!

The Brothers of BU Lambda Phi Epsilon have been very active off-campus as well. The week before classes began last Fall, 6 brothers came out to run the Brian J. Honan 5k Walk/Run. The run raises money for the Brian J. Honan Charity Fund, which aids in providing education, recreation, housing, and health care for Allston/Brighton residents.

For the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, the brothers came out before the event to help set up clothing and food stations, tables, chairs, balloons, and signs marking how far the runners have gone. It was a great event, where everyone had a lot of fun helping for a good cause.

Our goal have continued to strengthen the community around us as well as to give back to those in need. We?ve had a big turn out in the last school year's events, and thank all of you that have supported us.
